Home Water Conservation Tips

Water conservation is extremely important. Below we have listed some tips on how YOU can conserve water in your home. These are simple things that can be easily incorporated into our daily lives.
  1. Make sure the sprinkler is only watering your lawn and flowerbeds, not the street and sidewalk.
  2. When you wash fruits and veggies wash them in a bowl, instead of using running water.
  3. Take shorter showers! Decreasing your shower by just a minute or two will save up to 150 gallons of water a month.
  4. Collect rain water from the roof of your house and use it to water your garden.
  5. Fix the leaky faucets in your home. It is quick, easy and can save up to 140 gallons of water a week!
  6. While brushing your teeth turn off the water.
  7. Kill two birds with one stone. When the kids want to play in the sprinkler put it on an area of the lawn that needs to be watered.
  8. Wash your face and brush your teeth while you are in the shower.
  9. If your toilet was installed before 1992 you can reduce the amount of water that is used while flushing by inserting a displacement device in the tank of the toilet
  10. Replace your toilet flapper if it doesn’t close after flushing the toilet.
